Inanimate Object Day!

The pictures above our couch. I got really artsy-fartsy feeling one day right after Max was born and experimenting with face pictures.

Hannah's mug in the afternoon sunlight. Someone once told me that the secret to good photos is to NOT use flash whenever possible. It's true; I love the shadow and light.

The snow is nearly melted and the water is running. Hurrah!!!

  1. I totally agree with the flash/natural light thing. I HATE using the flash and don't whenever possible. I'm thinking of taking a few community ed photography classes next month - wanna come?

I learned this from a book called "E-Bay Photos That Sell." I've never used E-Bay but I was leafing through the book in Barnes and Noble and it has some cool tricks on doing product photography on the cheap. One of my favorites is the clear shower curtain over a lamp for lighting.
If I can't get good lighting, say at an event, I take a shot with and without flash to see which comes out best. The problem is that a digi cam's DSP chip has a hard time with low light. I believe, the chip takes longer to collect light which makes it more prone to shakiness. It helps to use a tripod or brace against a hard surface.
