The tree is up. I've never had a real tree before, so I'm not used to the gaps and stuff (hey, we're on a budget you know!). I think it's beautiful just the same.
I'm also not used to having to pick up pine needles every other minute, and Hannah might be allergic to them...so I don't know if our Advent tree will be a real one again next year.

I am unfortunately allergic to real trees. Good luck to Hannah as it isn't a fun allergy (especially when unnamed little brother knows and throws you into a giant evergreen bush).

Not to scare you, but...
ReplyDelete....you have to make sure you keep it fully watered everyday.
When I was little we always had a real tree. But then one year all the trees were so dry that there were a lot of house fires. More than 6 families in our town lost everything--including family members. My mother was so scared to plug in the lights...
Lights have gotten better since then, but I very much remember the stress/fear felt that Christmas.
So, the fake/cheap/needle free/toilet bowl brush looking tree it is for us! As long as there are lights, it looks great!
I miss real trees, but a fake one, no matter the condition, is more peaceful to take care of....there are enough stresses/demands put upon us all.
Everything aside, we hope (very much!) that that this tree adventure is a good one for you in everyway!

I'd love to have a real tree, but my mom is allergic to them and they are coming here this year for Christmas. Plus the cats would probably climb it. Or knock it down. And we don't really have room for one. I will live vicariously through yours - it is really pretty! I don't notice any bare spots - and the love you and your family will bestow upon it will make it all the more beautiful ala Charlie Brown. :)
