"Do you want the real truth answer or the fun, happy, game answer?" I asked her. She thought about it for probably a minute or two, very serious contemplation going on, I could tell.
"The fun answer."
I was glad she chose that one. "Yep, and she'll bring you money, too."
She scored two bucks from the tooth fairy, so I think she was glad she wanted the fun game answer! I'm also a little relieved that she, by reasonable deduction (which she possesses quite well for a six-year-old), probably knows the tooth fairy is not real now and I didn't even have to tell her outright. I don't mind playing the game for many more years while NOT feeling like I'm tricking her. Score one for the kid and score one for the parents!
