Hannah Montana vs. The Bowling Alley

So proud of my girls--we were headed to the Hannah Montana movie at the big new theatre last night, and they said they would rather go cross-country skiing. It was much too late for that, but Hannah suggested bowling instead. So we went bowling, which was a breath of fresh air, literally, as I haven't been to a bowling alley since they outlawed smoking inside. Also, I have been getting a little worried about the whole pop-culture thing with the kids; they seem to be a little too into these things lately. Again, I don't want to isolate them from the world--that's never my intention. But it is my God-given duty to protect their hearts and minds at this tender stage of life. Such a hard line to keep.

So, yay, they chose physical activity over sitting on our butts at a movie! Our new lifestyle is starting to rub off on them. And on that note, I hit my 20-pound loss goal (again--*blush*) yesterday. I feel like we are finally on a change for the better, and I'm glad we're doing this while our children are young.

  2. Kelly,
Amy forwarded me your blog link. I really enjoyed reading your personality profile and blogs. Its a really tough thing to decide as a parent how best to "protect thier hearts and minds" as you said. I feel really passionate about this too. And I'm praying that God will soften my heart to homeschooling if that is his will for our family.

  3. ha. no reason to *blush*! i've gained and lost 50 lbs. two times in four and a half years. and i'm twenty pounds in to my third attempt at it. and when i meet it, i'll still try to lose fifty more! if pregnancy didn't ultimately lead to the addition of beautiful children to our family, and didn't include being a part of a miracle...i tell you, i'd never, EVER want to be a part of it!!!
