Timer Cleaning, Part I

I am doing much better with my goal of streamlining and simplifying.

But.

Things still get away from me at times, like what gets left in the wake of coming home after a five-day trip when you spend most of three days trying to catch up on the sleep you missed on vacation while simultaneously trying to reorient the little ones back into normal life (no small task there, can I get an amen?!). Oh, and by you, I of course mean me:

When I'm clipping along at a nice pace, getting done a majority what needs to get done in a day, every day, I'm fine. A quick little pick up here, a neat little vacuum there...no prob; I'm UberHausFrau, right?

But.

There're these days I'm speaking of...

...and when I have one of them, or three, I can't devote a large chunk of time to rectifying the situation. I can't because 1) I don't have any large chunks of time, and 2) I abhor large jobs and cannot see the forest for the trees. Or I only see the forest and can't see the trees. Or something like that. As I quite honestly state in my blogger profile, I am the messiest neat freak you will ever meet. Basically I am such an extreme perfectionist that I shut down and become a complete flake when overwhelmed. Hmmm, yep, that's pretty much the most accurate way of putting it. Flylady would totally back me up on this one. I have issues with Flylady for a few reasons, but I must give her props because she has given me the key to resolution of my little perfection problem--of which I shall be eternally grateful--timer cleaning.

Ha, so now that I have piqued your interest and I just know you want to know how to make your own little byproducts of disaster just magically disappear...my timer is beeping and my computer time is up!

Tune in tomorrow for Part II, when I actually get to whatever my point was...

  1. Boy I can totally relate to EVERYTHING you are saying!!! Why is it that one day you house can be Spotless and the next day it is a disaster? Also why is it that people always show up one day late and the dishes aren't done? I need to get back on the flylady wagon. The only problem is I get burnt out doing it day after day after day :0( If you find a GREAT solution beside hiring a maid (yeah right) let me know! I think we will be in MN next Wednesday and maybe Thursday! I will get back to you with the details when I talk to Zach tonight!
